Herbs Unlimited will take part in a special exhibition at this years Great Yorkshire Show (July 11th to 13th at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate) showcasing British farming with other growers, farmers and researchers from across the country, to re-connect consumers with the farming families that produce their food. Visitors will get the chance to meet the farmers behind award winning food and farming businesses and researchers from the University of Sheffield will also be at the event talking about the latest technology and science that underpins sustainable food farming.
Please do come along and visit us in Hall 1 during the show, to taste test some delicious traditional and speciality fresh cut herbs from our fields, and other fresh produce from businesses in Yorkshire and beyond including Herb Fed Poultry, run by Alison’s nephew Edward who feeds his free range chickens and bronze turkeys with over 10 varieties of herbs from Herbs Unlimited. Our Cow Molly, the famous Sheffield based fresh milk producer will also be in attendance and also Leventhorpe Vineyard, who are credited with reintroducing commercial wine growing back into Yorkshire.
Herbs Unlimited are also sponsor of the Yorkshire schools gardening competition this year, and Alison will be judging the school’s efforts on Wednesday during the show. Each school who entered the competition has been given herb plugs to develop into a herb pot with an accompanying diary of growing and using fresh herbs, and the standard of diaries was excellent during a recent sneak-peek, so we can’t wait to see what the pots look like in real life and judging will certainly be a tough job. This competition has been running for more than 10 years and has seen hundreds of schools across Yorkshire take part in growing vegetables and fruit over the years, but this is the first time herbs have featured, and we are delighted to be sponsors.
