A vibrant purple version of basil that will add wonderful colour to salads and other dishes.
You can substitute purple basil in any recipe that uses regular basil. Start out with slightly less purple basil than you would normally if using basil because the flavor is more intense and you don’t want to overpower the dish.
Purple Basil works well with each of the following:
- Plum tomato and melted brie purple basil and extra virgin olive oil salad with cracked black pepper.
- Purple Basil pesto with venison Carpachio and fresh pea shoots.
- Mackerel fillet with Purple basil jelly and tomato sauce vierge.
- Chicken stuffed with Purple basil and Yorkshire blue cheese wrapped in Bacon.
- Purple basil Mediterranean vegetable stack with char grilled vegetable and pork medallions
